Freelance Project Manager: 
St Bartholomew’s Heritage, London.

One Year Fixed Term with possible option to extend.

Barts Heritage is set to embark on an exciting new project that will restore and transform the use the Grade I listed North Wing at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to create a visible, accessible and active centre for heritage activity.

Barts Heritage wish to appoint an experienced person or company to project manage both the development and delivery phases of the project. The successful appointee will also work with the Chief Executive to ensure that the project integrates financially and operationally into the ongoing and long-term sustainability of Barts Heritage.

Project duties include

  • Working to support the CEO, project board and trustees to ensure the successful delivery of both the capital works and activity plans.
  • Directly managing the project team including all external appointments to the project.
  • Advising Barts Heritage and the project board on all technical issues, costs, contractual and funding matters.
  • Preparing and operating a detailed project programme and managing a programme control system.
  • Ensuring that the project is delivered on-time and within budget.
  • Establishing a communication and authority structure.
  • Preparing a Project Execution Plan (PEP) setting out how the project is to be managed, controlled and delivered.
  • Delivering regular progress reports against budget and programme to both Barts Heritage and all external stakeholders.
  • Determining the organisation and resources required to carry out the project.
  • Managing the selection and appointment of consultants, contractors and suppliers in accordance with Barts Heritage and funder requirements and best practice.
  • Developing and operating a risk management process based on a comprehensive risk register.
  • Establishing a detailed budget management system and managing a cost and cash flow control process which integrates into the wider operational cashflow for Barts Heritage.
  • Liaising regularly with the CEO and Trustees on project and Barts Heritage financial matters.
  • Checking and authorising invoices from consultants, contractors and suppliers for payment by Barts Heritage.
  • Managing all appropriate procurement issues (including OJEU) and ensuring that they meet all relevant statuary and funder requirements.
  • Arbitrating on issues which arise between different disciplines and managing any disputes.
  • Responding to governance requirements and giving regular scheduled updates to representatives on project progress, budgets, cash flow, activity and site progress.
  • Working closely with relevant project members and external stakeholders to secure necessary planning and other relevant consents.
  • Overseeing extensive community consultation and public engagement work, ensuring the public are engaged throughout the project’s development and that the public are in agreement with the final proposals.
  • Developing and overseeing the review, revision and further development of the Maintenance and Management plan, Activity plan, Conservation Management plan, job descriptions, designs and consultations.
  • Managing the allocation and expenditure of the project contingencies.
    Advising Barts Heritage and the Project Board on the range of direct works proposed.

Freelance Project Support Officer: 
St Bartholomew’s Heritage, London.

One Year Fixed Term with possible option to extend. Estimated flexible 3 days per week. £25K per annum.

Barts Heritage is set to embark on an exciting new project that will restore and transform the use the Grade I listed North Wing at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to create a visible, accessible and active centre for heritage activity. The opportunity has arisen for the post of Project Support Officer to join the project team and perform essential project support duties associated with the smooth running of a large-scale heritage project.

This post will be directly reportable to the Chief Executive of Barts Heritage. The successful candidate will work with both Barts Heritage and the project development team.

Project duties will include

  • Facilitating Project Team Meetings and monitor any actions.
  • Ensuring all legal and insurance requirements for the Barts Heritage are kept up to date
  • Preparing regular progress reports to be delivered to Barts Heritage and all stakeholders and funders as required.
  • Maintaining an up-to date contact list for Barts Heritage.
  • Assisting Barts Heritage in the procurement process (including OJEU) for the selection and appointment of consultants, contractors and suppliers in accordance with Barts Heritage and funder requirements and best practice.
  • Drafting legal contracts for all consultants and staff for review by the PM and sign off by the CEO.
  • Updating the Barts Heritage website by using the WordPress content management system.
    Compiling, recording and filing all invoices.
  • Preparing grant drawdowns and ensuring that the relevant sign off from Project Manager and Trustees has been agreed before submission.
  • Attending the formal progress review meetings with all funders and partners as required.
  • Producing, reviewing and updating all Trust policies and procedures.
  • Preparing skills audits and training manuals to embed the skills and knowledge within our project legacy plan

Funding Duties will include

  • Assisting the Project Fundraiser in funding applications.
  • Providing information to the Fundraiser when required to facilitate funding applications.
  • Liaising effectively with funders and providing all necessary information as requested.
  • Providing regular progress reports and updates to funders in line with stipulated funding reporting/contractual requirements.

Freelance Fundraiser: 
St Bartholomew’s Heritage, London.

One Year Fixed Term with possible option to extend.

Barts Heritage is set to embark on an exciting new project that will restore and transform the use the Grade I listed North Wing at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to create a visible, accessible and active centre for heritage activity. The opportunity has arisen for the post of Fundraiser to join the project team. The total project cost is £8 million. 

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the Barts Heritage Board and the Project Board to raise the funding necessary to deliver this large scale heritage project. 

This post will be directly reportable to the Chief Executive of Barts Heritage and the Project Board. 

 

Duties will include

  • Developing a comprehensive communications plan to promote Barts Heritage to its donors and maximising public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organisation.
  • Undertaking detailed, accurate, timely research to identify potential funders and match funders with suitable projects/funding needs.
  • Ensuring all applications match the criteria of potential funders.
    Developing and maintaining an excellent knowledge of all aspects of the project in order to ensure Barts Heritage and the project is represented accurately and professionally to funders.
  • Working with appropriate members of the project team to obtain the information required to prepare accurate Cases for Support.
  • Preparing a timeline for applications to ensure no deadlines for applications are missed.
  • Preparing a timeline for reports to funders to ensure no reporting deadlines are missed and reporting is accurate and truthful.
  • Developing key relationships with current and potential funders to maintain funding streams and maintain existing relationships to a high level.
  • Ensuring that meticulous donor records are maintained in a suitable electronic format.
  • Preparing monthly reports on pledged income and actual income against budget, reporting on applications submitted and planned.
