The Friends were started in 2011 by a small group of medical alumni to help preserve the amazing heritage buildings of St Bartholomew’s Hospital, founded in 1123. This circle of friends grew to form a central committee and, since then, the Friends have expanded to attract a following of over 400 like-minded individuals. Many of these have trained or worked at the hospital, or are familiar with the buildings, archives and artistic treasures that are housed there. This growing number brought together to see that the heritage site is appropriately preserved to inspire future generations.
The Friends are here to do everything they can to ensure the buildings, which continue to be used for educational, cultural, social and fund-raising activities, survive and flourish for future generations.
